In 2009 Jerremy asked me for answers during the final lab on the last day of school for our Biology class at Ventura College, and that was the first time we ever talked. Then in 2011 at Cal State, Northridge, with a little help from Facebook and mutual friends we officially met. Our first date was thanks to a bet (which I lost), not sure exactly what it was, but i'm sure Lebron was involved. We continued to spend the next few years dating, arguing about Lebron and the Lakers, and figuring out how to manage life together. It's been 8 years since we started dating, and it finally happened, not only did we get engaged, but Lebron is a Laker, and we finally like the same basketball team.
After a few months of planning the day finally came. I asked our friends for help, tricking Ashley into thinking we were going to dinner with them. I picked her up from her house, running a little late, as I was trying to beat the sunset. She thought we were going to sushi, but I was planning a sunset proposal by the water. The location was special to us, as we spent a few relationship defining moments there. When we arrived to the restaurant, I had to come up with an excuse to get her to go on a walk with me. Luckily our friends informed us they were running late to our fake dinner. After a nice walk, and a few minutes of watching the sun start to set, we decided to walk back to the restaurant. She was a few steps ahead of me, I grabbed her hand turned her around, got down on one knee, and told her "I was about to ask the most important question of my life," she then blurted out what every person wants to hear in that moment, "What the f***?!" we laughed and I asked her to marry me, and she said "yes!" I told her we weren't really going to dinner with our friends, and she sat there wondering who she should call first. I then told her we should go get a margarita to celebrate, and then we would start calling our families. I had one more surprise up my sleeve, as we walked up to the restaurant, all of our friends and family were there to celebrate with us. She was shocked, and it was truly a day to remember.
