If you are a US citizen, you do not need a passport to visit Puerto Rico.
If you are staying in Old San Juan, we recommend just using Uber or taxis. If you are wanting to do some adventures around the Island outside of San Juan though, a car is recommended.
It is an average of 80 degrees during the day and may have scattered rain showers. We recommend shorts, dresses, water shoes if you would like to participate in activities, and yes you can bring your swimsuit!
While most Puerto Ricans in the San Juan Metro Area are bi-lingual, it is a sign of respect to at least try and speak a few phrases--though not required. In the mountain towns and outside of San Juan, some elementary Spanish is helpful.
A lot of the guests are arriving on Thursday. That said, stay as long as you want. There is a LOT to see on the island outside of San Juan. The El Yunque Rainforest is the only tropical rainforest in the United States. There are also some very cute towns. Our favorites are Aibonito, Guayama, Lares, Rincon, and Utuado
The Placita in Santurce is renowned. La Factoria also has salsa nights on the weekends. There is another place called La Bonanza that is supposedly good.

Puerto Rico is considered generally safe, and ranked safer than Chicago and San Francisco! That said, we do not recommend going to La Perla at night (a district in Old San Juan.)
