Hotel
We recognize that San Francisco is an expensive city for booking accommodations. If you are looking for hotels at a lower price point than our negotiated block - look no further! Please use the VIEW button below to see a selection of hotels that we recommend for bookings - plus a link to search for other hotels that meet your criteria. You will also find some general information on looking for hotels or other accommodations within the city, including areas to avoid, extra fees to account for, and more.
House Or Rental
One of the most cost-effective ways of staying in the city is by staying with a group at a large Airbnb. If this is something you're interested in, we encourage you to reach out to us directly, as we are more than happy to assist with arranging group Airbnbs if we have enough guest interest to do so. Please contact us at isabelle.and.ashley.2023@gmail.com (or use the VIEW button below) to indicate your interest as soon as possible.
Train
Other than driving, there are a variety of transit options available in San Francisco (and in the surrounding areas): - Muni: busses, light rail trains, streetcars, and cable cars which comprise the main transit system within SF** - BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit): a train system that connect SF to the surrounding Bay Area, including Oakland and the lower peninsula - E-Scooters: Lime, Spin, and Bird scooters are all active in SF - Bikeshare: provided by Baywheels, can also be accessed through Lyft - Ridesharing apps: Uber and Lyft both have a strong presence in SF **To access Muni transit, we recommend downloading the MuniMobile app (pass options through the app include 1 day, 3 day, and 7 day visitor passports)
Travel Note
San Francisco is unusual in the wide variety of climates that exist just within a few miles (or even a few blocks) of each other. Typical summer weather varies from around 15°-20°C (60°-70°F), but certain areas can be hotter or cooler depending on things like elevation, air pressure, and proximity to the ocean or bay. Fog is also typical (and fast moving), particularly on the West side of the city, and can cause fast drops in temperature. Because of this varying and oftentimes unpredictable weather, it is best to dress in layers when spending time in the city (a sweater or a light jacket are definitely recommended). It is also recommended to check weather forecasts by specific area of the city, in order to avoid getting forecasts for much hotter areas (such as Oakland, or San Mateo) - click VIEW below to see a useful site for doing so.
Flight
There are two major airports in close proximity to the San Francisco city center - SFO (San Francisco International Airport) and OAK (Oakland International Airport). We strongly recommend flying into SFO, as it will be much easier to travel from the airport into the city (from OAK you will need to cross the Bay Bridge, which has a toll and often heavy traffic, or take BART)
