Panadería y Café Santa Clara is owned and operated by Ashley’s godparents. They offer a delicious range of bakery items, coffee, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Not to mention, the view is absolutely stunning—a must-visit for anyone in the area! Be sure to say hello to El Compañero (Ashley’s uncle and godfather) and Kiki (Ashley’s aunt and godmother) while you're there.
Cerro de la Cruz, take a short 15–20 minute uphill walk to this hilltop cross lookout for breathtaking views of Antigua and the surrounding volcanoes. It’s a great spot to relax, snap photos, and see just how magical this city really is. Go in the morning or late afternoon for cooler temps!
Guatemala is home to some of the most iconic and active volcanoes in Central America. Guatemala has 37 volcanoes, forming the Guatemalan Highlands, a key part of its landscape and heritage. The three main volcanoes in the country are 1. Volcán de Fuego: Located near Antigua, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, constantly emitting smoke and occasional eruptions. 2. Volcán de Pacaya: Famous for eruptions, Volcán de Pacaya offers hiking and views of active lava flows south of Guatemala City. 3. Volcán de Agua: A dormant, perfectly conical volcano near Antigua, known for its picturesque shape and landscape. Our recommendations: Day trip Volcan de Pacaya Hike: Easy, fun, family-friendly at 2552m Volcan de Pacaya is less challenging than other hikes. Views and volcanic landscape make it worthwhile! Camp overnight and roast marshmallows on this volcano. Volcan de Acatenango: Short on time? Try the 5 to 5 tour. For a challenge, hike overnight for sunset & sunrise at 13,000ft!

If you’re up for an unforgettable adventure, make time to visit Semuc Champey, one of Guatemala’s natural wonders! Hidden in the lush jungle near Lanquín, Semuc is a series of turquoise limestone pools sitting atop a rushing river. Swim in the crystal-clear water, hike to the famous viewpoint for breathtaking photos, or explore the nearby K’an Ba caves by candlelight. It’s perfect for swimming, relaxing, and taking in breathtaking scenery. It’s a trek to get there, but the beauty and serenity make it well worth the journey. A magical, off-the-beaten-path experience you won’t forget! This was the last big adventure I shared with my brother, and it was truly unforgettable and beautiful. We had so many laughs, constantly saying, “Can you imagine if people in Canada saw us doing this?!” We stayed at an eco-lodge where phones and Wi-Fi were out of the picture, completely off the grid and fully immersed in nature. It took us a whole day to get there, but I'd 100% recommend this 3-day trip.
