Our Love Story

The Long Version of 'We Just Knew'

Once upon a time, two Aggies met... One was raised by a Marine who taught her to be independent and extremely selective — especially when it came to men and especially when it came to anyone from the Army. The other was raised by a social worker with a heart the size of Texas who passed that same heart onto him. Funny how things work out - one social worker raised another (just not the one she expected). We each embodied a different side of the college experience, living full lives in our own corners of campus. One of us was balancing school, friends, and sorority life—content, though quietly wondering if something was missing. The other was rooted in the structure and tradition of the Corps of Cadets—focused on the path ahead and not necessarily looking for a relationship After one too many complaints about men who had no drive, a good friend made a suggestion: “There’s this guy. He’s in the Corps. He’s ginger. He’s serious about life. You might like him.” One date later, and neither of us ever went on another date again. That day, a conversation about faith shifted everything — one of us was wrestling with distance from God, while the other shared how central He was in their life. Since then, faith has become the foundation of our relationship, with each of us taking turns leading and always pushing one another closer to Him. We both called our moms. And they knew. (How do moms always know?!) Since then, our journey together has been anything but easy — but it's been everything we didn’t know we needed. We’ve walked through long distance, family loss, study abroad, training weekends, and a whole lot of “when will we even see each other again?” moments. But every hard season just confirmed it: we are where we’re supposed to be. Every decision we’ve ever made led us right to each other. There was never a timeline. Never a rulebook. Just a feeling — one that our families, our best friends, and even God seemed to agree on: we just knew. Now, we get to celebrate all of it — the laughter, the growth, the grace, the goodness — with the people who’ve loved us through it all. And that means you.
