Things To Do

We're so excited to share a few of our favorite places with you in the city where we fell in love.

Carytown

2811 W. Cary St., Richmond, VA 23221

Strip of boutique shops, gift stores, bars and restaurants. Fun street to stroll up and down and window shop! Kayla & Ashleigh's favorite places in Carytown are Chop Suey (book store), Can Can Brasserie (Parisian bistro), and World of Mirth (an amazing toy store!)

Maymont Park

1700 Hampton Street, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 358-7166

Maymont is a 100-acre Victorian estate and public park, containing the Maymont mansion, now a historic house museum, an arboretum, formal gardens, a carriage collection, native wildlife exhibits, a nature center, and Children's Farm. Kayla & Ashleigh recommend visiting the Japanese Garden and the nature center.

Scott's Addition Historic District

3331 W. Moore St., Richmond, VA 23230

Scott’s Addition is the hub of the city’s brewing scene, with cideries, taprooms, and distilleries housed in converted warehouses. Bold street murals and string lights brighten the area, and seasonally focused destination restaurants, a retro bowling alley, and a cinema make it a popular evening hangout. Nearby, the Science Museum of Virginia has high-tech astronomy shows in its Dome theater. Fun fact: Ashleigh & Kayla's first date was at Vasen Brewing Company in Scott's Addition. Other favorite places of ours in Scott's Addition include Ardent Craft Ales, ZZQ Barbecue, and Lunch & Supper restaurant.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 340-1400

Considered among the largest art museums in North America, the VMFA's comprehensive art collection includes African art, American art, British sporting art, Faberge, and Himalayan art. One of the first museums in the American South to be operated by state funds, VMFA offers free admission, except for special exhibits. Kayla & Ashleigh also recommend checking out the Amuse cafe upstairs for art-inspired cocktails and cuisine, as well as the sculpture garden outside where you can see famous statues and sculptures including renowned artist Kehinde Wiley's "monumental" statue Rumors of War.

Hotel Greene

508 East Franklin Street, Richmond, VA 23219
, (804) 447-5958

An eccentric indoor mini-golf course, with each course designed to look like different parts of a hotel. Enjoy beverages while you play. (Note: Hotel Greene is 21+ after 5PM). Ashleigh's claim to fame is making the last hole and winning the "I Holed the Hellmouth" t-shirt. She would love to tell you all about it when asked (and even when not asked).

Hollywood Cemetery

412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 648-8501

Hollywood Cemetery is a national treasure in Richmond, VA filled with stories and natural beauty. It is the final resting place for two U.S. Presidents.

The Poe Museum

1914 East Main Street, Richmond, VA 23223
, (804) 648-5523

A literary and historical museum celebrating the life and legacy of Edgar Allan Poe. Located in Poe's hometown of Richmond, Virginia.

Belle Isle

Richmond, VA

A great place for nature walks and beautiful views of the James River. Any Richmonder will tell you that this is our local version of "going to the beach."
