How We Met...

Katherine's Version: I will have to give Danielle C. some credit here. If she didn’t pick Labor Day to get married we may all not be here. Also thank Jota for needing to be babysat. Ashleigh and I didn’t start off as strangers we ran in circles that occasionally overlapped. At one point I had her number but I never saved it in my phone. No one should be surprised by this. On this particular Labor Day weekend both Ashleigh and I were dog sitting, I needed to get to Danielle’s rehearsal dinner that Friday night. Ashleigh and I had plans to pass of Jota (the puppy) at some point that day I was starting to panic that Ashleigh forgot that she needed to grab her. This was around 11am. I couldn’t find her number and I had no other choice, but to send her a message on Facebook. Around 1pm she replied and we arranged to meet at the dog park. I have a few hours now till I need to ready for Danielle’s dinner. Around 2 pm she pulls up to the dog park, and we sat for an additional hour talking as if we were old friends reconnecting. I made it to dinner on time….she was late to lunch with friends. With a few rain-checked dates due to the Seahawks and Huskers, she shot her shot and we never stopped talking, 10/10 was our first date. Ashleigh's Version: While our versions of the story may differ slightly, this is exactly how I remember it. Kate slid into my DMs asking for my number on Friday morning in which I took the day off to extend my holiday weekend — apparently she never saved it from years ago. And sleeping until 11:30am is unacceptable because a second message came shortly after no response from me, sending her number asking me to reach out to her as soon as possible. At the time, we were both helping watch a friend’s dog over Labor Day weekend, and we needed to swap puppy sitters because she was a bridesmaid in a wedding and needed to drop her off before having to get ready to head to the rehearsal dinner. Anyway, what I intended to be a quick five-minute handoff turned into more than an hour of catching up, talking, and a lot of laughing…and me being 90 minutes late to a lunch I had planned with a friend. After that, since she slid into my DMs with her number, I never stopped texting her—and luckily, she never stopped responding. Our first “real” date was Taco Tuesday 6 weeks later on October 10, 2023 (after a few casual meet ups and failed attempts to actually make plans)…mostly my fault, my bad, the Seahawks had Monday Night Football on the one day she had time. From there, the rest was history. just curious....okay.
