We’re getting married! To celebrate this special moment in our lives, we’d like to make the most of the quality time we spend with our friends & family. So we've decided what better way to kick off our marriage than exploring new places with our loved ones. While researching places to hold our wedding (both in the States and beyond), we stumbled upon Petritoli, a picturesque small town in Italy full of welcoming locals, cafes, authentic cuisine, nearby vineyards, and surrounded by Italian countryside & other towns to explore. After speaking with several couples who have held their weddings there (and loved it!), we decided it was the perfect spot for us – one that would afford a great opportunity – adventures, experiences and, above all, quality time with our friends & family. We realize not everyone is able to take the time to come with us, but know that you are all invited and we will treasure the time we have with those who can make the journey. We will plan to be in Italy both before and after the wedding, so please join for as long or as little as you can. We will arrive in Rome on Friday and spend the long weekend there, then will arrange a shuttle bus on Tuesday midday to take a group to Petritoli. We will spend the next 5 days exploring the area and will organize group activities- wine tasting, olive oil farm tours, visits to nearby towns, cooking lessons etc. The wedding will be Friday night, Saturday we will explore more, and Sunday morning our shuttle bus will head back to Rome. You are welcome to join us for the entirety or at your convenience – whatever works best for you. Your children are welcome and we can work together with the villa owner to find local recommendations should you need childcare. We hope to see you in Italy!
We originally met when we were 17 at a dance in downtown Pittsburgh. Girl Ashleigh and one of Boy Ashley’s best friends were both attending the event, and Boy Ashley and his friends decided to crash (successfully)… hitting it off quite well. Going our separate ways for college- Girl Ashleigh to PSU and Boy Ashley to the Naval Academy, we remained in contact over the four years with campus visits and even ran into each other at another Ball in Pittsburgh when we both had the idea to crash it during Freshman Thanksgiving break, unbeknownst to each other. We continued to be friends for a long time – through Boy Ashley moving around the country for Naval Aviator training and Girl Ashleigh working in fashion and film in NYC. We would see each other back in Pittsburgh over Holidays and meet up in various spots around the country but dating long distance did not seem possible. Eventually Boy Ashley even moved to France and our friendship continued. Finally, both back in the U.S., and (somewhat) in the same neck of the woods, we decided to actually give dating a try. Through spending time in Pittsburgh, living in New York and Alaska, voyaging both in nice parts and more challenging parts of the world, we realized we should go ahead and settle on down! (*strictly figuratively, does not imply not being on the move). The only real question is which spelling of Ashley/Ashleigh our kids will use...
