Flight
ATH is the primary international airport of Athens, the capitol of Greece. To reach Santorini from Athens, you will need to take a short 45 minute flight to Santorini International Airport (JTR).
Travel Note
If you find yourself with a little more time on your hands, you can book a ferry to take you from Athens to Santorini. It can take anywhere from 5 to 7 hours. Although taking the ferry will take you much longer than air travel, it will be less expensive than airline tickets. The ferries in Athens depart from the Port of Piraeus and arrive in Santorini at Athinios Port, which is only about 15 minutes from Fira.
Travel Note
There are a very limited number of taxis, and Uber is not available on Santorini. Transport from the Santorini airport or ferry port is best arranged ahead of your arrival, either through your hotel (ask if they offer free transport) or through the "Welcome Pickups" car service. The K-Tel Public Bus even runs to the airport and is a great, cost effective way to get around the island.

Santorini is known for it's luxury hotels and great restaurants, but it’s also easy to visit Santorini on a budget. The key is to choose hotels and restaurants not directly on the caldera. The west side of the island, Fira, Oia, Imerovigli, and Firostefani, offers the most incredible views of the caldera. However, these sunset towns tend to be a much more expensive option. The south side of the island, Kamari and Perissa, will put you on the best beaches in Santorini and will provide beautiful views of the ocean for a more affordable price. Below, you will find a list of hotels that are within walking distance to the wedding venue. Please feel free to stay anywhere that fits your budget and needs. After all, this is your vacation of a lifetime too! I will be updating this section with a list of more hotels in Kamari, as this is a much more affordable area to stay and it still has easy access to the direct 20 min bus line that runs from Kamari to Fira every half an hour up until midnight daily. This seems to be where most people will tend to stay since it is a lot more affordable not only on hotel prices, but food and drinks. Again, this vacation is going to be tailored completely up to you, but my suggestion is to stay on the caldera side with those jaw dropping views maybe 1 or 2 nights (if your budget can allow that) and then stay in Kamari the majority of the time. Or, if your budget just doesn't allow you to stay near the wedding venue, it will still be a fantastic location to stay in Kamari by the beaches and hop on the cheap bus over to Fira.
