Kilig

The origin of the word to us.

When we were first dating we knew that we had feelings for each other but we did not want to throw around the words “I love you” until we were sure. Even so we felt like we needed something short and simple that held power to us, a word between us that described the emotions that we felt for one another. One day we stumbled on the word “kilig”. The word means romantic excitement, the butterfly feeling that you get when you see the one you love, the weird feeling of elation and relief when they’re there. When we read the description of the word it fit perfectly with that we felt for each other and we have been using it ever since to describe the continued feeling we have for one another.

How we met

Frsehmen year at Valdosta State

It was August 2013 and I had just moved onto Valdosta States campus and was walking around the campus with one of m friends. We made our way to the library eventually and it was there that we ran into Nick and his best man Darien. They were walking around the library( we all were wide-eyed freshmen at the time). I don't remember how the conversation started and I don't think that I even talked to nick much over just introducing ourselves at the time, but I did remember him. Fasting forward later in time We met again through our mutual friends, we refer to ourselves as the "Lituation crew". It was after that we started to become closer friends and started to date and now he's my best friend and the love of my life. - Ashilee
