The GA Freight Depot was opened in 1869 and was the main depot for the Georgia Railroad. It is the oldest building still standing in downtown Atlanta. It was designed by the architects, Corput and Bass. They also contributed to a number of other building during the rebuilding and recovery from the Civil War. Originally, the Georgia Freight Depot stood three stories high until a fire destroyed its upper two floors.
