How exciting! It is truly an *experience* to say the least. Upon entering, your senses will be quite frankly, assailed with beauty, richness, and symbolism. Enjoy it! Take it in and bask in the peacefulness of the space. After the service, feel free to ask questions about anything you see, hear, smell, or experience. Every bit of it means something significant.
About one hour! There will be service books for you to follow along with the richly symbolic prayers throughout.
Traditionally, Orthodox services are performed and participated in while standing. Find somewhere in the room that you would like to plant yourself! For our elders/those in need, we will have chairs available.
There will not! At least, not written by us - the bride and groom. In the Eastern Orthodox Tradition, marriage is seen as a sacrament, as something designated and fashioned by God, and maintained and consecrated over the centuries by His church. In the mystery of matrimony, we take on a more receptive role. We arrive to be formed by God through His church, standing in prayerful and silent attentiveness, as He performs the miracle of wedding two souls together.
