Located less than 45 minutes from Fraser, RMNP is a vast wilderness area known for its towering peaks, diverse ecosystems, and abundant wildlife. Timed entry reservations are released on a first-come, first-served basis and there are two options: Timed Entry (good for most of the park) and Timed Entry Plus (grants access to the popular Bear Lake Road destinations). The park releases permits in batches a month ahead of time on recreation.gov, but a percentage become available the night before a desired start date. Reservations for Sept. 1-30 will open on August 1st.
Late September is an excellent time to witness the vibrant fall colors in the mountains near Fraser. Jim Creek Trail, Creekside/Flume Loop, and St. Louis Creek are all nearby hikes that should (fingers crossed!) have beautiful aspen leaves while you are here. The Fraser River Trail is a gentle, family friendly trail that connects the towns of Fraser and Winter Park. Check out the AllTrails app for more info on hikes in the area and feel free to join Sarah on a leaf peeping jaunt Saturday morning before the wedding. You can also explore Cottonwood Pass or drive along County Road 8 for scenic views if you'd like to enjoy the colors without breaking a sweat. Nearby Granby Ranch also offers chairlift rides for leaf peeping.

35-foot-high aerial ropes course adventure nestled in scenic surroundings, welcoming visitors of all ages to engage both mind and body. They also offer guided rock climbing tours in nearby Arapaho National Forest. Both activities are beginner friendly with some height/ability qualifications.
