COVID-19 Updates

The Wedding Website of Ashley Rice and Wayne Mitchel
Our wedding venue will be closed through at least June 5. While this news is disappointing, it is not unexpected and our "Plan B" is below. The words “wedding” and “marriage” are sometimes used interchangeably, but they are two different things. A wedding lasts a day, a marriage lasts a lifetime. We want a marriage. (...but we also want a wedding.) We will have both… just not at the same time. See our FAQ's below.
Question

What is happening this year?

Answer

We will be signing our marriage license and becoming husband and wife this May. We will be broadcasting this virtually via zoom and Facebook Live. We will email our guests the link to the zoom meeting room the morning of. If you have any questions about how to set up zoom (it's free) email us at mitcheltov@gmail.com.

Question

What will a Virtual Wedding be like?

Answer

Your guess is as good as ours! Dress up from the waist up, pour yourself a drink, and have some tissues handy. We will say some vows, exchange rings, sign our marriage license, and finish up with some toasts and well-wishes.

Question

Wait, what about all the traditional Jewish Wedding things?

Answer

We are saving all the classic, official Jewish Wedding things for next year: signing the ketubah, standing under the chuppah, circling, seven blessings, the breaking of the glass, and of course, what Ashley is looking forward to most: the horah. Speaking of which, if you're not sure how to dance the hora, here's an instructional video. You have a year to practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGTho2a9t9k

Question

What is happening May 30, 2021?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony at Smithtown Landing! We will have the wedding ceremony we had originally planned for 2020, only one year later. This will be part wedding ceremony, part one year anniversary celebration. This is a unique situation, but we are living in unique times.
