You can hang at sunnyside fireplace inside with a good book or cocktail - Grab a warm drink and enjoy lakefront fire pits, you can roast marshmallows and watch the sunset! -Sunnyside also has plenty of board games to play with the family. -Sunnyside beach with Corn hole and picnic tables - rent a kayak/ paddle board/ jet ski/ boat you do NOT need to be staying at Sunnyside to enjoy all the amenities!
Hiking & Fall Colors! The fall foliage in Tahoe is unreal! Some great hikes to catch the colors include: • Eagle Rock - A short, easy climb with panoramic lake views. About a half mile up a tiny hill. Great for kids!! - Getting there: put “eagle rock” in your maps, it will take you straight to the trail head, park on the side of highway 89! - good place for a dog on leash!
* Paige Meadows (5 min drive from sunnyside) - A hidden gem filled with golden aspens. (Where Trevor proposed to Ash) - Contact Trevor or Ashley on how to get there :) - Dwight’s favorite place ever! Bring your dogs!
Shirley Canyon in Squaw Valley ( 18 min drive from sunnyside) - A moderate hike with waterfalls and stunning scenery! - Getting there: You will park in Squaw Valleys parking lot as close as you can to the tram, (there should be signs) and than from there you walk to the end of Shirley Canyon road where the Shirley canyon trail head begins!
Emerald Bay: (16 miles from Sunnyside, 20 min drive!) - Eagle falls hike, another great hike for kids a little bit more challenging though, you can hike all the way up to eagle lake but if you have little ones or are short on time eagle falls is a fast and beautiful waterfall!
About a 5 min drive from sunnyside! If you're feeling adventurous, tackle rope courses and zip lines through the forest. Great for all ages!
Biking the Truckee River Trail! - Rent a bike and cruise the scenic path from Tahoe City to Squaw Valley, following the beautiful Truckee River! - we like to actually start at squaw valley entrance then bike to bridgetender for lunch and a John Daily! It’s about a 30 min bike ride but with stops along the river it makes it a lot longer!
Sugar Pine Point State Park: - Walk the lakeshore trails and check out the historic Ehrman Mansion while enjoying the sun and crisp autumn air!
Kayaking or Paddleboarding - The lake is calm and peaceful in the fall, making it a perfect time to get out on the water. Rent a kayak or paddle board right from sunnyside marina and enjoy a serene morning paddle!
Blackwood Canyon (10 min drive from sunnyside) -Situated on the west shore, this area offers beautiful aspen groves that turn vibrant shades of gold during the fall, making it ideal for a leisurely drive or hike! Perfect place to take your dog!
Weather depending! Rent a boat from right from sunnyside marina and enjoy an amazing day out on the lake! The fall is a great time to get out on the lake, less crowds, fewer boats on the lake, calmer waters, and warm fall sun!

•Catch a Movie at the Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema - A cozy indie theater where you can sip craft beer or wine while watching a film. • Lakeside Yoga - Join a yoga class at The Yoga Room or take your own mat to Commons Beach for a peaceful stretch by the water! • My personal favorite: Sunset at the Lake - One of our favorite things to do with our dog! Grab a bottle of wine, walk down to the beach, and soak in the sunset over the Sierra mountains. Look at that alpenglow.. now you get why people wanna move here right?
