Basically a destination elopement where it's a bit of an "adventure" to get to. We did ours along the Oregon Coast. Photos were taken along Short Sands Beach trail, Elk Flats trail, and Arcadia Beach. We hiked the trails alongside our elopement photographer, Cara, from Wild Earth Weddings. I had hiking boots on beneath my skirt!
I mean...if you know us at all then you know that we are both not ones for the spotlight. The adventure elopement allowed us to strip away all the hectic parts of a wedding and really make it just an intimate ceremony centered around the two of us. We woke up, went to a bookshop (yes, I seriously went to a bookshop the day of our wedding) and then to a coffee shop. We were able to take our time and really soak everything in. The word "elopement" is growing past its original negative connotation. Being on that cliff with just the two of us as the wind rushed past us while the ocean crashed among the rocks below was an incredibly intimate experience. Standing up there together with nature literally howling in the background only solidified our choice.
Great question, I'm glad you asked. Lots of people on the trails were nice and congratulated us as they walked past. But then this *one* man said, "Are ya getting married?" To which we replied in the affirmative. And then he slurred out, "Can I kiss the bride?" No, you fool. But we all awkwardly laughed and carried along and then I turned around and shot Jeremy *a look* because, like, what goes on in some peoples' heads? Also, there were these two older ladies along the trail and they just could not get over the fact that we were dressed up and hiking to get married. Like, they were overcome. Anyways, they asked to take our photo. So now these two random ladies in Oregon have some photos of us on their phone. Hope they are doing well.
