Our Story

Katharine moved across the country from New York to L.A. in the summer of 2018. After only being in LA for a few weeks she ran into Arturo at Echo Park, where a group of their mutual friends were getting together for a night picnic. Arturo was completely hypnotized by this woman, and although they never actually spoke to each other, he did his best to capture her attention by carrying on and on about Casper mattresses. Two weeks later Arturo learned that Katharine would be at a book signing for one of their mutual friends, so Arturo called in sick to work and went to the event, hoping for a chance to talk to her. They hit it off right away, but their travel schedules kept them from being in LA at the same time again during the next two months. But they couldn’t be stopped! They wrote each other every day. And on Halloween night, when Katharine revealed that her favorite candy was pumpkin-shaped Reese’s, Arturo jumped on it. He was in rural Texas at the time without a car, and the only store open at 11pm was Walmart 1.2 miles away, but he knew time was of the essence for this seasonal treat, so he grabbed his running shoes and ran all the way there. Two weeks later, he flew back from Texas, Reese’s in hand, and drove right to Katharine’s house to pick her up for their first date. On New Years Eve of 2018 Arturo asked her if she would be his girlfriend. She said yes and fireworks went off all over Venice Beach to celebrate (could also have been for New Years, but that hasn’t been confirmed). Two years later, while visiting Zion National Park, Arturo proposed. The sky, yet again, celebrated with vibrant colors, as the sun set over the mountains. Katharine cried. A lot. I don’t think she even said yes, come to think of it. But she took the ring, so here we are! And the adventure continues...
