We recommend arriving in Italy at least 1–2 days before our welcome event on June 2nd. This allows time to adjust to the time change, account for travel delays, and enjoy a little Italy before the festivities begin.
Florence and Pisa are the closest airports to Castiglioncello, but Rome and Bologna can also be great options depending on flight schedules and pricing. Italy's train system makes it easy to reach the wedding from any of these cities.
Probably not just yet! Since the wedding is still a year away, flight prices may fluctuate significantly. We'll keep an eye on airfare and send updates through Zola when we think it's a good time to start booking.
Yes. All guests traveling to Italy will need a valid passport. If you don't currently have one, we recommend applying as soon as possible.
Probably not for the wedding weekend itself. Most guests will be able to rely on trains and taxis, and Castiglioncello is very walkable. If you're planning to spend extra time exploring Tuscany, however, a rental car can be a great option.
The villa will primarily house immediate family and members of the bridal party throughout the wedding weekend. We'll reach out directly to guests staying at the villa.
We'll be organizing hotel blocks within walking distance of the venue so that everyone can stay nearby and enjoy the weekend together.
Not yet. We're currently finalizing accommodations and room blocks and will share recommendations and booking details as soon as they're available.
Accommodations in Castiglioncello are simple and comfortable—think classic coastal Italy rather than a luxury resort. Most rooms include air conditioning, private bathrooms, and the essentials for a comfortable stay.
We'll be spending a few days celebrating with everyone throughout the wedding weekend. Our wedding will take place on June 3rd, and we're also planning to host a few additional gatherings before and after the wedding. While details are still being finalized, expect a relaxed and social weekend with plenty of opportunities to spend time together. We'll share a full schedule as we get closer.
Yes! While plans are still coming together, we're hoping to host a casual gathering before the wedding and a low-key pool day or hangout afterward for guests who are still in town. More details to come.
Think summer in Italy. More specific dress code information will be shared closer to the wedding, but we recommend planning for warm weather, sunshine, ocean breezes, and plenty of walking. A few practical tips: Comfortable shoes are highly encouraged There are a lot of stairs throughout the property The area can be windy, especially near the water We would not recommend very thin heels or shoes that don't handle uneven surfaces well
Children are welcome if they are specifically included on your invitation. We're currently exploring childcare options for portions of the wedding weekend and will share more information if arrangements are made.
If a plus one is included on your invitation, it will be reflected when invitations are sent. We certainly don't expect anyone to travel to Italy alone! If friends, partners, or family members are joining you for the trip but are not included in the wedding events, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the area independently while celebrations are taking place.
Most accommodations in the area, including the villa, have air conditioning. That said, accommodations in coastal Italy tend to be simpler than what some guests may be used to in larger hotels or resorts.
Absolutely! If you're able, we highly recommend turning the wedding into a longer Italy adventure. We'll likely be spending time in the Tuscany and Florence area before the wedding and would love for people to overlap if schedules align. A few of our favorite recommendations: Florence One of our favorite cities in Italy, with incredible food, architecture, shopping, and history. Tuscany Rolling hills, wineries, charming villages, and some of our favorite memories from our trips to Italy. Monterosso (Cinque Terre) Our favorite of the Cinque Terre towns. Beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and a perfect coastal stop before or after the wedding. The Amalfi Coast One of Italy's most iconic destinations, with stunning views, colorful towns, and incredible food. Ischia One of our favorite places in Italy. Located just off the coast of Naples, Ischia offers beautiful beaches, thermal spas, fewer crowds than some neighboring destinations, and a more relaxed pace. Pisa & Lucca Easy day trips from Tuscany and great options if you're looking to add a little sightseeing to your itinerary.
Castiglioncello is more of a relaxed beach town than a major tourist destination, which is one of the reasons we fell in love with it. Expect: Beautiful coastline Beach clubs Swimming Great seafood and Italian food Relaxing afternoons by the water If you're looking for museums, sightseeing, or larger city experiences, Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and Livorno are all easy to reach.
Not at all! Learning a few phrases is always appreciated, but you'll be able to get around just fine with English, especially in airports, train stations, hotels, and restaurants.
A few things we learned during our trips: Tap-to-pay works almost everywhere Trains are often easier than driving Bring a European outlet adapter Check whether your hair tools are dual voltage Download Rome2Rio and FreeNow before your trip Leave room in your suitcase—you'll probably come home with wine and olive oil
Absolutely. If you're traveling from the same city as other guests, feel free to coordinate flights, trains, or accommodations together. We'll also try to help connect people who are interested in sharing accommodations.
Expect warm days, cooler evenings, and plenty of sunshine. June is one of our favorite times to be in Italy, but the coast can get breezy, especially at night.
If your schedule allows, we'd recommend making a vacation out of it! Even adding just a few extra days before or after the wedding can make the trip feel much more relaxed and give you time to experience some of our favorite parts of Italy. Many guests may choose to combine the wedding with time in Tuscany, Florence, Cinque Terre, Rome, the Amalfi Coast, or one of Italy's islands.
