Our Story

Ariel: What are the odds that two people living completely different lives should happen to meet in the exact place and time as the exact person they needed to be to fall in love with each other? When I think about all the stars that had to align for us to be making a wedding website right now (!), it always makes me laugh. When I found myself living in D.C in the cusp of 2020, I was very much a rolling stone, hopping from job to job and state to state, not really making any strong ties anywhere. I am not ashamed to say that I used [popular dating app that rhymes with schminder] as my TripAdvisor whenever I found myself in a new place because what better way to get to know somewhere than getting to know the someones that live there. Enter Bee. After a few exchanges of small talk, bad puns, and life goals, I went on a date with who would eventually be the love of my life. I was amazed by her life experiences and the way that she carried herself and how intelligent and empathetic she was. Aaand it didn't hurt that she was easy on the eyes. I found myself talking about her more than I had ever talked about anyone I had previously dated and anticipating every reply. Enter the pandemic. With the whole world on lockdown, we turned to each other. 8 hour facetime calls turned into blue moon rendezvous turned into moving in together. And throughout, I never stopped being amazed by every facet of Abby I uncovered. I like to think we did three years worth of living in that one year. I learned how to coexist with someone, how to care for someone, how to be myself more fully than I had ever been. I fell in love. And almost five beautiful years later, here we are. I am so excited to share our story and our happiness with everyone this June! Bee: It was a cold day in January when I swiped right on Ari on Tinder, enjoying meeting new people and exploring D.C. I was promptly enamored with her passionate, page-long texts about environmental access and sustainability. She was new to the area, and she asked me to pick a brunch spot since I'd been living there for almost 5 years. She came in wearing a cute little button-down shirt and looking up at me with all 5'3" of her. Needless to say, the Chipotle-style brunch place I had hastily googled was not so great...but, the conversation was good enough to make us both stick around! Eventually, we were a little embarrassed at how long we had been sitting and talking in this fast-casual restaurant and moved across the street to a coffee shop. Almost 5 hours later, I went home (and only because I had a paper for my master's program due at midnight!), thinking of her quick wit, sense of humor, and her smile that lit up the room. A couple months later, the world was rocked by COVID-19, and dates were no longer exactly a thing. We fell in love over 8 hour long facetimes and distanced picnic dates before joining each other's quarantine bubbles and moving in together only 9 months after we met. Now, we live together in Asheville, NC with our precious cat, Barnaby, in a home we own, and working as teachers in the same school. I feel pretty damn lucky to have this be my life, and what a woman I get to share it with!
