A 5 minute walk from Pod Brooklyn hotel, Two Boots is a very popular NYC pizza chain. The “two boots” in the name are Italy and Louisiana - get cornmeal pizza crust with cajun toppings!
A little further out, if you’re willing to walk 15 minutes or so, Masquerade is an Iranian tapas bar known for spectacular food, interesting cocktails, and frequent live music.
About an 8 minute walk from Pod Brooklyn, this casual Thai eatery is some of the best Thai food available in Brooklyn. There are a few tables, but you’re usually better off getting some takeout to bring back to your hotel room.
A more classically sit-down restaurant, Strangeways is just a 2 minute walk from Pod Brooklyn, and has gorgeous outdoor seating that feels like sitting in a greenhouse. It usually makes lists of “best in Brooklyn” for its burger, but there’s a fairly large and eclectic menu.
A hopping brunch spot a 10 minute walk from Pod Brooklyn. They tend to get crowded, but they don’t take reservations between 10am - 2pm, so if you’re willing to wait a bit, you can get a table.
Also a 10 minute walk away, Lilia is an extremely well-rated and upscale Italian restaurant that could have been on our dinner rec list, but even better in our opinion is their morning breakfast caffe. Stop by for excellent coffee, pastries, and egg sandwiches.
Israeli restaurant that does an excellent brunch. It has the advantage of being across the street from Sunday in Brooklyn, so if the line is overwhelmingly long, you can cross over here and be extremely happy with your shakshuka as an alternative.
If a 10 minute walk before coffee is a big ask, Oslo is 3 minutes down the block. They have extremely excellent coffee, but only adequate pastries. Your best bet is to stop in and caffeinate enough to go a little further for some real food.
Good news! A two minute walk around the corner is a location of Levain Bakery, famous for having the (controversial) best chocolate chip cookie in America. Go get one of their classic cookies and form an opinion to enter the internet battle - is a giant cookie with a crisp outside and a gooey undercooked center the best possible version?
Right across the street from Pod Brooklyn is the Tipsy Scoop, an alcoholic ice cream parlor. To be clear: this is not bourbon-flavored ice cream, this is alcohol & ice cream combos. It is not kid-friendly, but it is an extremely fun and decadent place to be over 21!
