Perhaps a carefully curated profile, an oversharing of a first celebrity crush, and a bold first message really do have the possibility of bringing us together-- and, in our case, forever. As you're probably beginning to catch on, yes... we met on Hinge. The place they reference in all fairytale books and media. It all began in early September 2023. Ariana moved back from Florida a few short weeks before and was in the midst of moving into an apartment in Dublin. With the encouragement from a friend, she decided to download Hinge and hope for the best. One of the first guys that populated on her page happened to be Laurence. She found his profile to be candid, creative, and funny so she gave him a good 'ole swipe right (how elegant). And, in true fairytale fashion, Laurence happened to swipe right on her too. Day one on Hinge and mission accomplished for Ariana. Ariana and Laurence began "talking" on Hinge and he quickly planned a date. Due to Ariana being in the trenches of moving, she kept postponing and Laurence began to think she was lying. After about two weeks of talking back and forth, the time came where Ariana was finally free to meet for dinner. Laurence planned a nice dinner at Watershed Distillery. And, for those who are not aware of the geographical location of this establishment, it is in a warehouse district. This is important for the development of the story, remember that. Ariana agrees to meet him for dinner, puts the address in her GPS, and ends up in a parking lot in between two warehouses. Now, for those of you that know Ariana, you know she is super aware of her surroundings and also one of the biggest Criminal Minds fans around. She immediately sent her location to her younger brother, Joe, and told him if he did not hear from her in 20 minutes to call. This is the point in the story that Laurence will attest that Ariana was "late" to dinner. Ariana would then combat that she was not in fact "late" but she was very early and contemplating whether or not it was a wise decision to leave her car, alone, in a back alley, at 7:00pm to meet a stranger she met online. So, we will let you decided if she was truly "late." Ariana eventually mustered up the courage to go in (pepper spray and taser in hand) and that is where she first laid eyes on him. The two sat at the table in the corner for hours- laughing, eating, sharing stories, and falling in love. After the date, Laurence walked Ariana to her car (probably because she heckled him about their first date being in a warehouse district, but for optics we will chalk it up to him being a gentleman). They said their goodbyes and Laurence asked if he would be getting a second date. Ariana then responded "I have to get approval from the council" (i.e. her one singular friend she told about the date) and hopped in the car. This is funny because she did not need to confer with anyone. She had never been more certain about anything, or anyone for that matter. She was beaming from ear to ear and the very next text she sent to said "council" read, "I just met the man I am going to marry, mark my words." From there the story unfolds in the most colorful and magical of ways. Laurence and Ariana went on several more dates (Franklin Park Conservatory, Kings Island Haunt, the Nutcracker, etc.) As the months went on, they fell deeper and deeper in love. That brings us to September 1, 2025. Laurence proposed to Ariana at Old Man's cave in Hocking Hills. Laurence dropped to one knee and confidently said "will you spend the rest of your life with me?" to which Ariana responded "I'd say yes to you in every lifetime."
