West Point Museum
The mission of the West Point Museum is to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret historically significant artifacts pertaining to the United States Military Academy, United States Army and the Profession of Arms. Visitors today can view the actual weapons, uniforms and memorabilia of American soldiers from the 17th century to the present as well as military artifacts from around the world. Admission is free!

Bear Mountain State Park
The park features a large play field, shaded picnic groves, lake and river fishing access, a swimming pool, Trailside Museums and Zoo, hiking, and biking. The Perkins Memorial Tower atop Bear Mountain affords spectacular views of the park, the Hudson Highlands and Harriman State Park. Perkins Memorial Drive and Tower are open from April through late November, weather permitting. The Merry-Go-Round at Bear Mountain State Park features hand painted scenes of the park and 42 hand carved seats of native animals. Angry Orchard Cider House
The infamous Angry Orchard Cider house located about 45 minutes from Thayer Hotel. To visit the Cider House, no reservations are required! All seating is first-come, first-serve. If you’d like to add a tour to your experience, we highly recommend booking tours online, as day of availability cannot be guaranteed. The Cider House is open year-round Thursday-Monday. During your visit, we offer various draft, canned, and bottled cider for purchase! Cider tasting flights are also available for purchase with no additional booking required. Enjoy fresh food from our in-house kitchen every day we are open.
