FAQs

Question

Weather & What to Wear

Answer

What will the weather and setting be like? Our ceremony will take place on the lawn at Hart House with beautiful views of Deer Lake. Following the ceremony, we'll celebrate together in a heated tent, ensuring everyone stays comfortable throughout the evening. What should I wear? We invite you to wear formal attire. Since our ceremony is on grass, we recommend choosing comfortable shoes—such as block heels, wedges, or flats—rather than thin stilettos. A light layer is also a lovely idea, as evenings by the lake can be pleasantly cool. To complement the serene lakeside setting and autumn season, we kindly ask that guests avoid white, off‑white, champagne, and red, which we are reserving for the bride, and invite you to incorporate mauve and navy blue into your outfits.

Question

Parking & Transportation

Answer

Is there parking at the venue? Yes, free on-site parking is available at Hart House Restaurant (6664 Deer Lake Ave, Burnaby, BC), with additional overflow parking nearby if needed. Please allow a few extra minutes to park and walk over to the lawn before the ceremony begins. How should I get to and from the wedding? Guests are welcome to drive and park at the venue or arrange taxis or rideshares to Hart House. If you plan to enjoy drinks in the evening, we kindly encourage you to consider a taxi or rideshare for a safe trip home.

Question

Food allergies, Dietary preferences and special requests

Answer

I have a food allergy. Can you accommodate it? Yes, absolutely. Please let us know about any food allergies or severe dietary restrictions when you complete your online RSVP so we can share this with Hart House Restaurant in advance. If you have a severe allergy (for example, to nuts or shellfish), feel free to also reach out to us directly so we can make sure the team is aware and prepared. Will there be nut‑free / gluten‑free / dairy‑free options? Hart House Restaurant can offer modified plates for common allergies and restrictions, such as nut‑free, dairy‑free, and gluten‑free meals, as long as we have this information in advance. While great care is taken in preparation, the kitchen may handle common allergens, so cross‑contamination cannot be completely ruled out; please use your best judgment based on your comfort level. I'm vegetarian/vegan / have other dietary needs. What should I do? When you RSVP, you'll see a question to share any dietary needs (e.g., vegetarian) or other special requests. The catering team will do their best to provide a suitable option that fits within the wedding menu and venue capabilities. What if I forget to mention my dietary restrictions on the RSVP? If you realize after replying that you need to update your allergy or dietary information, please get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can pass the details on to Hart House Restaurant before final numbers are due. Last‑minute changes are harder to guarantee, but every effort will be made to accommodate you where we can.

Question

Plus-Ones

Answer

Can I bring a date or plus‑one? We are so excited to celebrate with you. Due to the intimate size of our wedding and the capacity at Hart House, we are only able to host the guests listed on each invitation. We truly appreciate your understanding.

Question

Partners

Answer

Is my partner invited? Where possible, we have included partners by name on the invitation and in the RSVP details. If you do not see your partner’s name listed, we are unfortunately unable to add a guest seat. We are very grateful for your understanding.

Question

Children

Answer

Are children invited? We adore your little ones. However, because of limited space, we are only able to include the children of close family and a few children named on their family’s invitation. If you are unsure whether your children are included, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
