If you get to LA a little before the wedding, there is a game against the Baltimore Orioles on August 29th! The Dodgers are stacked and the Orioles have built themselves an incredible group of young, home-grown talent...definitely worth your time.
April's favorite small art museum in LA
The best farmer's market in the city, in our opinion. It's open Sunday mornings, from about 7:30am-1pm. A great place for breakfast, music, and people-watching! There are samples of all the produce, plenty of bread and pastry stands (Bub & Grandma's is the best but also sells out really fast), a lot of prepared food (J's fave is Pupusas Delmy), and if you're feeling fancy, you can get oysters shucked on demand by the shellfish guys!
There is nothing like it anywhere else in the country! A testament to the cultural impact of cinema and one of our favorite places to bring out-of-town visitors.
Our local bookstore! Make sure to hit up the arts annex a few doors down as well, if you like art books and graphic novels.
Where J and April met! It's since been bought by Live Nation and no longer does free shows every Monday night, but what can you do. Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis.
Free museum in Los Angeles <3 Just don't forget to reserve ticket for the time you would like to go (Pro tip: book tickets for the infinity room in advance as well!)
Right across the street from The Broad, and general tickets are also free! Make a day of it...
One of the wildest museum experiences one can have in terms of truth and fiction. If you like science and history and want to have fun, don't look up anything before you go and just take it in! I don't know how much of it is real and how much a creative writing exercise, and personally I don't ever want to know; trying to figure it out there is half the fun. Don't miss the cute free tea and cookies in the roof garden, near the bird cote.
A million different experiences squeezed into one beautiful place. It features 130 acres of themed gardens, an art museum, and a library. What more could you want in life? (Just remember to bring sun block)
Our favorite giant sandwiches in LA
LA Landmark, best french dip sandwiches in the world. April's been coming here since she was about 8!
No reservations, just put your name down and wait. Go for the lunch special!
Delicious for dinner or a giant breakfast. There's only one option for breakfast, which we're so here for - love a limited menu.
Incredible local coffee shop and bakery. They're usually busy during brunch on weekends, but delicious!
Skip Sqirl, go here instead.
Breakfast burritos! No sit down, just order at the window
Gorgeous remade textile shop. They have beautiful clothes and home goods!
Cute park with the Hollyhock House, an art gallery, and a theater at its summit. Grab a box of pizza from Desano's, croissants from Figaro, or a bunch of savory Armenian pastries from Taron, and watch the sun set over the city.
