The main reason we chose to get married in this area was because of the Unesco World Heritage Site of the Dolomite Mountains. You can drive this yourself, however a day tour is your best option. They drive you around in a nice air conditioned coach so you can enjoy the scenery and not have to worry about maneuvering the roads. They bring you to all the quaint towns in the area as well as the most gorgeous overlooks and picturesque views of the Dolomites. These are full day tours that leave in the morning and don’t get back until the evening. Make sure you allot the time for this unforgettable experience. You won’t regret it! I stayed here the 1st time I came to Italy when I was training for culinary arts. The historic downtown & gorgeous countryside have so much to offer. This is where the modern Italian language originated from the memorable Dante. There’s a light & water show outside of the Romolo Valle Theater as well as stunning architecture in the various churches & throughout the winding cobblestone streets. The hilly countryside is home to Cavazzone, an agritourism restaurant & inn as well as the #1 rated balsamic vinegar in the world. Take a tour, try a cooking class, stay the night or even just for dinner but definitely check it out. You’re in the meat & cheese region of the country so why not try some prosciutto in nearby Bologna, Balsamic in Modena or cheese in Parma in these historic food towns. You’re in the triangle of where Ferrari, Lamborghini & Maserati are made. Stop off at the Ferrari factory/museum while you’re in the area for a once in a lifetime hands on experience.
Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small magical islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs. Only a few hours east of Lake Garda.
