If you enjoy botanical gardens, this is a must-visit place! Explore over 1,000 acres of woodlands, meadows, and indoor and outdoor exotic plant displays in scenic Kennett Square. While you're there, make sure to check out any one of several mushroom shops in town, as Kennett Square is the "mushroom capital of the world."
Hersheypark is a family theme park located about an hour west of Atglen in Hershey PA. Rollercoasters, pools, and several themed areas provide fun for everyone. Spinning, whirling rides not your thing? That's ok, they're not ours either. Drop the kids off and treat yourself to a fine fermented beverage at nearby Troeg's Brewery!
If you enjoy go karts as much as Adam, you'll have a great time at Slick Willy's. Fast karts, a fun track design, and good competition on a slick track are only 50 minutes away near Reading PA. In addition to the racing, "The Works" in Wyomissing (attached to Slick Willy's) has a wide variety of arcade games and activities for kids, as well as a decent restaurant.
Good food and great beer await you at Victory Brewing Company, conveniently located less than 5 minutes from the Barn at Stoneybrooke. Adam's beer of choice is King's Mad Weiss if you like hefeweizens.
For a really spectacular Christian-themed live production check out the Sight & Sound theater in Lancaster. Do note that shows sell out well in advance, so if this is something you're interested in you'll have to plan ahead.
Experience the Amish way of life...just like the website says. You're almost guaranteed to get a small taste of it anyway (if you haven't seen a horse & buggy on a public road, prepare yourself), as the Amish culture is prevalent throughout this part of Pennsylvania. The Amish Village kicks that up a notch with guided house tours and bus tours that allow you to experience the culture up close.
If you want to get physical, this is the place to do it. Rock climbing, "Clip 'n climb", basketball, or Ninja Warrior courses are all available, as well as a food court, a nice farm-to-table restaurant, and an arcade. We go indoor climbing here and love the place. Day passes are available for a reasonable price.
