We Eloped! Now time to Celebrate!

Hello family and friends! Things have been quiet on the reception front, but we are happy to announce a date for our reception. Join us at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Although we are doing the reception a week before our one year anniversary, we wanted our out of town guests to experience one of Albuquerque's most well known events, the International Balloon Fiesta! It was a favorite of mine growing up, especially the special shapes day. Please browse the website for more specifics, and reach out with any questions. Plan C did not pan out as was hoped, but we still got to celebrate the date and Matt's parents' 44th wedding anniversary out at Shelikof beach cabin. It was a muddy and rainy trek, but we all made it unscathed, including the cake haha. We were making arrangements for an intimate family ceremony this winter, but when the likelihood of that went from 90% down to 40%, we knew we needed to do something else. This is when we came up with the wild idea of having an extreme elopement in the Alaskan wilderness. With the weather looking the best on Saturday, we set out in the am flying around Baranof island looking to see what lake would be the safest and most beautiful to land. Takatz Lake with its vibrant turquoise glacial waters immediately caught our attention. We can't thank the pilot and our photographer enough on making this a possibility and for capturing this magical experience. Duke even got to join for pictures following the float-plane adventure. We are planning for a reception in NM in the summer of 2021, of course many things pending. Dear Family and Friends - We hope everyone is staying well during this unique and uncertain time. We are doing well in Sitka, although we've had to make some difficult decisions regarding our wedding. Bad news first: we are cancelling our Winter Wedding in Big Sky, Montana. Good news: We are still getting married this year, but with a twist. Here's the twist: True to Matt and I's adventurous and adaptable spirit, we decided to get married here in Sitka along the coast of Shelikof beach, which is right off the Pacific Ocean. It was at this cabin we had our first Alaskan camp-out, and where we grew stronger as a pack after getting lost for 2 hours haha. We are honored to be married on August 14th, which will be Matt's parents' 44th wedding anniversary. Our parents and Duke will be our distinguished guests at this very remote location, but we can't wait to celebrate with the rest of our family and friends next year August 14th, 2021. We met each other at pretty critical moments of our lives. Finishing the last months of our residencies, who knew meeting "our person" was in the cards for us. Thanks to modern technology, we both "swiped right" on Tinder and now here we are! We made the most of weekends either fly fishing in Red Lodge or spending time indoors baking cakes or playing board games in Billings. Now after having lived in Sitka, AK for the last 2 years, our weekends consist of hiking, fishing (both salt water and fly fishing), mushroom hunting, and foraging for other plant goodies. We can be bold and even say we dabble in canning and smoking fish now.
