It's January 21st, 2015 and it's the second day of the Spring Semester at NYIT. Caroline, a freshman, gets to her microbio lab class early so that she can reserve the best seat possible (in the middle and by the professor, of course!). Some other students shuffle in, dispersing themselves across the room. A few minutes pass, and in comes Antonio, a junior, and where does he decide go? He sits down in the seat right next to Caroline! She, a bit annoyed and admittedly PMSing at the time, thought to herself, "Why would this guy choose that seat when there's still plenty of other seats available?" Little did she know that this moment would change both of their lives forever. So why did Antonio sit there? Well... it wasn't because he wanted to sit next to a "pretty girl." He also wanted to get a good seat in lab class! As the semester went on, Antonio, Caroline, and a couple other girls would become acquainted with one another. They would take turns grabbing test tubes, bunsen burners, worksheets, and cleaning up at the end of lab. One day, Antonio didn't show up to class (he skipped out to watch a soccer game, shhh). The other 2 girls asked Caroline if she had a boyfriend. "Haha, no, never had one," she said. "Well, we think you and Antonio would make a cute couple!" they said. At first, Caroline laughed at the idea since she has never dated anyone before. But then the girls explained... They were both into sports, smart, had similar humor, and got along very well. "Huh," Caroline thought aloud, "I guess that makes sense." From then on, they started talking outside of class and messaging each other through snapchat and Facebook. The semester ended and Antonio continued to visit Caroline on campus as she had taken up a summer job there. They went out to lunch at the nearby Moe's for their first unofficial date. Fun fact: this date almost didn't happen, but that's a story for another day... June 18th, 2015- Antonio and Caroline go on their very first "first date" of their lives. They go to the movies to watch Jurassic World, but the earlier show was sold out, so they had walked around Tanger Outlets for a couple hours just talking until showtime. After the movie ended, he walked her to her car. They said goodnight, and they kissed for the first time. Let's fast forward, like a lot, to the morning of March 16th, 2024. Caroline is getting ready at their apartment and is under the impression that she is going to see the final renovations of the house they are about to move in to, and then afterwards, drive upstate to a friend's engagement party. Antonio blindfolds her as they get closer to the house, and he casually talks about the latest sports and soccer news that was going on. Caroline is thinking about how excited she is to have their own driveway and a kitchen with proper ventilation. He walks her out of the car, guiding her up the steps of their new home and into the living room. Finally, he instructs her to take off her blindfold, and Caroline sees Antonio down on one knee. She immediately starts to cry as he asks, "Caroline, will you marry me?" She meets Antonio on the ground; they kiss and smile at each other, and she tearfully says yes.
