Flight
Carcassonne, France is the closest airport to the reception venue. It is about a 25 minute drive from the city of Carcassonne to the wedding venue. We will be providing a bus from the Hotel de la Citi in Carcassonne to the wedding venue on the Saturday (and back to the hotel at night). Ryanair flies out of Stansted Airport direct to Carcassonne for UK friends and family. There are not any direct flights from the US to Carcassonne but can do a layover in either London or Paris. ** Keep in mind most flights from the US will fly into Heathrow airport but Ryanair flights to Carcassonne leave out of Stansted airport. From Heathrow to Stansted it is about a 90 minute drive.
Flight
Toulouse airport is also an option to fly into. You can fly directly from London or Paris. If you are flying from the US and stopping over in London, British airways flies to Toulouse from Heathrow airport or Gatwick airport, which is more convenient then flying out of Stansted airport (to Carcassonne directly). Toulouse airport is an hour and half drive to the reception venue and an hour drive to the city of Carcassonne (where we will have a bus going to and from reception venue.)
Flight
RyanAir also flies to Girona, Spain. If you have time and want a lovely drive, Carcassonne is 2.5 hours from Girona and is a BEAUTIFUL drive through the Pyrenees mountains.
Flight
If you are looking to make other stops on the way to Carcassonne there are also these three cities you can fly into and drive to Carcassonne.
Train
If you have a bit more time to travel there are also trains from Paris to both Carcassonne or Toulouse. To Carcassonne you will have to make one change and it's about 5 hour journey. To Toulouse there is a direct fast train that takes about 4 hours. There is then a local fast train from Toulouse to Carcassonne if you don't want to drive. Trainline.com is the best way to look up train journey's in Europe (and UK).
Hotel
We have reserved a discounted block of rooms for Cohen/ Walker wedding guests. A bus will be provided to take guests to the reception and back to Hotel De la Cite after the wedding. Book through the sales department: commercial@cite-hotels.com and mention Cohen/Walker wedding and you will get our reduced rate; first come, first served.
Travel Note
There are other hotels in Carcassonne that are available on Booking.com. These two are recommended by Hotel de la Cite: Hotel le Donjon and Hotel Mercure. It won't be difficult to arrange a cab from hotels close to Hotel De La Cité in order to take the transport that will be arranged from Hotel De la Cité to Chateau de la Villerambert on the Saturday.
