Things To Do

If you’re spending some extra time on the North Shore, whether you’re in Newburyport or staying out on Plum Island, there’s plenty to enjoy! Mikey and Olivia have spent many summer days here and are excited to share a few of their favorite spots.

Downtown Newburyport

Explore downtown Newburyport! It is full of charming shops, delicious restaurants, and fun bars. If your plans allow, we highly recommend grabbing gelato from Dolce Gelato after dinner and taking a walk along the waterfront- one of Mikey and Olivia’s favorite summer date nights. We’ll share a few of our other go-to spots below: The Black Cow – Delicious food and a great atmosphere. One of Mikey and Olivia’s go-to spots for a special date night. We highly recommend the sushi! The Port Tavern – One of Mikey’s favorites. A classic Irish pub where you can often find Mikey rocking a scally cap and sipping a cold Guinness! Sea Level – A classic. Big menu, cold draft beers, fun cocktails. If you go, you have to try the chowder fries ... sounds weird we know, but we promise you won't regret it. Carmine – One of Olivia’s favorites (no surprise it’s Italian). Cozy, amazing food, and there’s usually some Frank Sinatra playing... which is music to Mikey’s ears.

Newburyport Continued

I ran out of space above, but I couldn't leave this spot out! Simply Sweet – An awesome little candy shop tucked down a cute alleyway. Amazing chocolate and sweet treats! Candy Man up the street is great too and a bit bigger, but Olivia swears by Simply Sweet’s chocolate. However, if you’re looking for a bigger selection of old-school candy, Candy Man is your spot.

Plum Island Beach Day

Plum Island Main Beach – Need we say more? A classic beach day on a truly special spot! Parking can be a bit tough, but there are paid lots on the island. We recommend getting there on the earlier side to avoid the spots filling up! Sandy Point Beach – Part of the Plum Island preservation area, and often called the closest thing to a Caribbean beach on the island—we’re not sure who “they” are, but we agree. Calm water, clean beach, and if you’re lucky, you might even find some sand dollars. They only allow a certain number of cars in each day, so definitely get there early!

Plum Island Restaurants

The RipTide – A cool spot with classic island vibes. Great food and just a fun place to hang out. If you go in the evening, you’ll definitely catch the islanders in their natural habitat. Plum Island Sunset Club – A newer spot with an incredible view of the Plum Island marsh. Perfect for grabbing a cocktail and watching the sunset - One of Mikey and Olivia’s favorite views!
