Travel Note
Our wedding will take place in Charette-Varennes, a small village in Burgundy located between Beaune and Dole. Many of our guests will be traveling from the United States as well as from different parts of France, and we are so grateful you are making the journey to celebrate with us. Because the venue is in the Burgundy countryside, we recommend allowing plenty of time for travel and arrival. Most international guests will fly into one of the following airports: Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Lyon–Saint Exupéry (LYS) Geneva (GVA) From these airports, guests can reach Burgundy by train or rental car. The closest towns to the venue are Beaune and Dole, both within a short drive of Charette-Varennes.
Travel Note
The European Union is introducing new border systems for travelers entering the Schengen Area. Entry / Exit System (EES) Beginning rollout in 2025–2026, travelers entering Europe will register biometric information (fingerprints and facial scan) at the border instead of receiving passport stamps. Because of this, first entry into Europe may take slightly longer at passport control. More information: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees_en ──────── ETIAS Travel Authorization (Upcoming) Beginning in late 2026, travelers from visa-exempt countries (including the United States) will need to complete an online travel authorization before visiting most European countries. ETIAS will: Be completed online prior to travel Cost approximately €7 Be valid for three years or until the passport expires Allow stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period More information: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en For travel to France before ETIAS becomes mandatory, U.S. travelers will only need a valid passport. ──────── Allow Extra Time for Arrival Due to new European border systems and busy summer travel periods, we recommend allowing extra time when entering Europe. If possible, consider arriving a day or two before the wedding weekend to adjust to travel and enjoy Burgundy.
Travel Note
Many guests may find it easiest to reach the venue by car. If you plan to rent a car in France, U.S. travelers are encouraged to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) before departure. The permit must be carried together with your U.S. driver's license. In the United States, International Driving Permits are issued through: AAA https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html American Automobile Touring Alliance https://aataidp.com Applications are simple and typically cost around $20.
Travel Note
In addition to our room block, there are many hotels and Airbnb options available throughout Beaune and the surrounding Burgundy villages.
