How We Met

2024 of March-April

Blake and Maddie met the only way any bored 21st century generations would meet: on a dating app called Hinge. Now, it was not a hit right off the swipe. He messaged the goofy 'Forest Gump GIF', and Maddie ignored him because she thought he was a stuck up lawyer. (He has a picture of him being sworn into office, of course I thought he was a stuck up lawyer). However, there was one thing that caught her eye, and it was the fact that both of their dogs looked exactly alike (Yes, we both had our dogs on our dating profiles like any dog lover would do, we are a package deal). So, after a week to a month, Maddie finally decides to reply to the goofy GIF and finds out Blake is not as stuck up as his portfolio lied about. The set their first date for April 16th, where they had Texas Road House in Fort Smith, and the next week she met his family (she loved the goofy dynamic and it solidified it all). They hit it off, classically, and they fell in love. The rest was history.

The Proposal

Sunday: September 21st, 2025

Blake and Maddie were beginning a their yearly Fall road trip to Colorado. We, of course, had to stay in Santa Fe, NM. (Maddie fell in love with the town ever since their first trip there in July of 2024). However, little did she know that the town she fell in love with was going to be where the love of her life proposed to her. Let me back up here.... We had just woken up in our hotel, after our 9 hour drive Saturday, and I was complaining about getting ready for our little breakfast date (Blake told me either that week that he made a reservation for our favorite breakfast place in town). Blake, ultimately, insisted and I got ready. When we were heading to down town Santa Fe, Blake was driving around in circles because we could not find a parking spot. (There was a little flee market going on, and he was buying time). When we finally found a spot, Maddie wanted to go see what was going on at the flee market, but was worried we were going to miss our reservation at the breakfast place. Blake reassured Maddie that they would have plenty of time, so they took off to the flee market. As we were getting close to this beautiful Catholic church, Blake insisted on taking pictures. I am walking with him closer to the church where he wants to take photos, and I am complaining about not wanting to go over there because of the mud (I was wearing open toed shoes). That is when he faced me and started saying, "Madison Taylor Anthony, I love you. You are the love of my life. *He gets down on his knee* I can't imagine spending the rest of life with anyone else *fumbles around for the the ring box while talking* Will you marry me?" I ultimately nod my head yes while crying. That is when he kisses me and tells me that the reservation was not for our favorite breakfast, but for the photographer that was hiding and taking our photos.
