9.30.2014. It was a crisp fall day in New York—shortly before the leaves began to change color, but after the seemingly endless hot summer had finally subsided. After meeting for our first date at the corner of 23rd and 7th, it became immediately evident to us that we had a spark that could have lasting power. Following a dinner at Good Restaurant (RIP) that went beyond the “typical” first date topics, we ventured onto dessert at Pasticceria Rocco in West Village. Despite inhabiting opposite ends of Manhattan (Alex in Chelsea and Anthony in the Upper East Side — basically long-distance), varying media outlet preferences (Alex is an NYMag/Vulture aficionado and Anthony prefers The New York Times), and backgrounds (Alex is a proud Michigander while Anthony hails from the Pennsylvania Dutch), we were taken aback by the ease of conversation and how smitten we were for each other… and the rest is history 😊!
