During the spring of 2019, Alicia moved back to Huntsville, Alabama with her family. That summer, she helped with VBS at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Anthony was volunteering that summer too, and they happened to run into each other. Both knew they had seen each other somewhere before so they struck up a conversation and remembered they went to first grade together at that very place. After that initial re-introduction, Alicia attended youth group at Holy Spirit Church and Anthony would be there (at least every once and a while). This gave them opportunity to get to know each other a little bit, but not enough to become super close yet. Later that year, they both attended the NCYC retreat with the youth group and became closer through the funny shenanigans they got into. After that, they would text on and off throughout the rest of the school year, but went radio silent after graduation in 2021. It wasn't until a full year after graduation, during the summer of 2022, that Anthony and Alicia reconnected again. Anthony was helping with VBS as before, but this time he ran into Alicia's brothers. He asked how they were, and how Alicia was since he hadn't seen or talked to her in a while. Stating that he would like to talk with Alicia again, her brothers brought this news home to her. Alicia decided to text Anthony first, knowing she had a new phone number. After that first text, they planned an outing for themselves to meet up at Bridge Street that next weekend. They spent the whole day at Bridge Street going to bookstores, walking around, watching a movie, and even riding the carousel (but it totally wasn't a date). After that, Alicia would invite Anthony to the summer youth group activities so they would see each other more. Now friends again, she would also invite him over to her house to watch Studio Ghibli movies together. It was a fun summer and they grew close throughout the time they spent together in person and on the phone. Starting Anthony's second year of college, he made sure he had time to still see Alicia even with his schedule being a bit busier. This is the time they would meet up on the weekends, and when available, go to an ice cream shop for a good treat while they talked. They also joined the Catholic Campus Ministry at UAH as a good way to be around college-age Catholics. They kept meeting throughout the school semester and had deeper conversations as time went on. Then, they both went to Seek23 right after the new year. This is where both Anthony and Alicia kept asking themselves the same question: "Should we start dating?" Bringing this question to God during Seek, they both got the same answer. They both felt God very strongly move them to go ahead and become more than just friends. A week and a half after Seek, Anthony asked Alicia to become his girlfriend, and she said yes. From then on, it was Anthony and Alicia or Alicia and Anthony constantly together no matter where they went. Making God the center of their relationship, going to sacraments together, and talking about anything and everything together has made them strong together. With a wonderful relationship of a year and nine months, Anthony took Alicia to a deep canyon gorge and waterfall. There, with the sun setting behind them and beautiful scenery around them, Anthony got down on one knee and asked Alicia to marry him. She said yes! Little did Anthony know about one memory Alicia kept in her heart. As a child in first grade, she was playing a game to herself by making shapes with her hands over different people during recess. Running out of shapes, the next one she made was a heart, and Anthony just so happened to be the kid she landed on. Alicia has remembered this ever since coming back to Huntsville. Now ready to get married, we are two blessed souls put together by God!
