Gran Vía
Located in the heart of Madrid with endless stores for shopping. It's also home to the largest Zara in the world, and near Calle de Fuencarral (amazing for shoes); this is the Anasofia's (arguably) favourite place in the entire world.
El Retiro Park
A stunning (and massive) park in the heart of the City. Think Central Park vibes but with a Spanish twist! There's also smaller museums, palaces, ponds and more to visit within the park.
Museo Nacional del Prado
Calling all art lovers! Museo Del Prado is Spain's National Art Museum. It has the largest holdings of Bosch, Titian, El Greco, Rubens, Velázquez and Goya, some numbering more than 100 works.
Mercado de San Miguel
Calling all foodies! Mercado de San Miguel is Madrid's indoor Spanish market. They have great tapas and a wide variety of food and drink options.
Calle Serrano
Madrid's main street for luxury goods. Think of Calle Serrano as the Bloor St equivalent in Toronto!
El Corte Inglés (Castellana)
Spain's largest department store – The Castellana location is Anasofia's absolute favourite location. They have restaurants, cafes and unlimited shopping options.
Royal Palace of Madrid
The royal palace of Madrid and the official residence of the Spanish royal family. It's large, stunning and a must-see for architectural lovers.
Sobrino de Botín (Oldest Restaurant Worldwide)
Visit the oldest restaurant in the world – located in the heart of Madrid! It was founded in 1725.
Galería Canalejas
A luxury shopping centre and delicious food hall – way less crowded than El Mercado de San Miguel with great food options.
Círculo de Bellas Artes
A gorgeous place for sunset drinks and capturing Madrid's skyline views.
Plaza Mayor
Plaza Mayor is Madrid's large central square located in one of the oldest parts of the city. It's beautiful and has many restaurants and shops nearby.
Santiago Bernabéu Stadium
Visit the recently remodelled Bernabéu stadium (and try and see a game!) – it's the third largest soccer stadium in Europe.
Temple de Debod
Temple of Debod is an ancient Nubian temple in Madrid, Spain – gifted by the Egyptians.
El Rastro (Flea Market)
Madrid's famous Flea Market – only open on Sundays and public holidays (there's also a delicious tapas bar specializing in escargot: Casa Amadeo Los Caracoles)
Puerta del Sol
Puerta del Sol is a public square in Madrid, one of the best-known and busiest places in the city (it's been under construction for a long time though so hopefully it's not when you're there!)
Catedral de la Almudena
The Almudena Cathedral – stunning architecture and right in the heart of the city.
Cibeles
A beautifully sculptured fountain in the city's heart – fun fact: soccer fans gather here and celebrate their club's victories (they used to jump in the fountain).
Biblioteca Nacional de España
Spain's National Library – great for learning and exploring beautiful architecture.
Puerta de Alcalá
Puerta de Alcalá is a Neo-classical gate in the Plaza de la Independencia in Madrid, Spain. It was a gate of the former Walls of Philip IV and is located in front of El Retiro Park.
