Amanda and Jake met while volunteering teaching English in Israel, pursuing their mutual love of travel and altruism. They were roommates, and lived with six other people. Amanda and Jake discovered an undeniable attraction for each other while dancing one night underneath the stars in Ramle, Israel. At the end of their time volunteering in Israel, they decided they didn't want their romance to end. They have wandered through many deserts, but have always found paradise when they are together.
Feeling the time was right, Jake invited Amanda on a brunch date. He took her to one of their favorite restaurants, Bubbie's in Portsmouth. After brunch, Jake took Amanda on a walk to one of their favorite local spots, Prescott Park. While walking through the park, Jake commented on the fact that there were no flowers in bloom, and Amanda said, "Of course not, it's the end of April!". If you know anything about Jake, it is that he can be at times, oblivious. Little did Amanda know, Jake wanted the flowers to be in bloom for the proposal. Not letting this fact stop him, Jake got down on one knee. Unfortunately for Jake, he is a big jokester and had previously pretended to get down on his knee many times throughout the previous year. Amanda thought Jake was kidding and did not believe he was proposing until he got out the ring, and popped the question! Of course, Amanda said yes, but first she said, "Are you serious?" We are so excited for this next step in our lives, and can't wait to have you there along with us! See you in Colorado!
