We met while volunteering in the Fresno Lao Community. We didn't think much of each other at first. I was not fond of Oddy. I thought he was flaky, overconfident and did not understand why he was so fawned over by others. Well, we ended up having to spend a lot of time together rehearsing for a Lao Student Association (LSA) skit. I started tolerating him, then one night, I had a dream I kissed him. I woke up & thought, ok, I might like this guy. After a while, I realize I actually enjoyed being around Oddy. I talked to a couple friends at the time about the situation, which is how the cat got out of the bag... It happened when Oddy & I were exchanging texts one day to set up a LSA event. I decided to screenshot our non-flirty conversation to a friend. I thought it was strange she didn’t respond, so I went back to our text & realized the screen shot wasn't there. I looked back into my text with Oddy & realized I sent the screenshot to him! I died! Panicked, I tried to play it off like the screenshot was about someone else & asked him to just ignore it. Oddy played dumb & claimed the photo didn't load. Then, later on, he had the audacity to say the photo went through & asked who I was talking about... it was very obvious who it was about. A couple of months rolled by that we pretended there were no feelings, until finally we shared a kiss during a camping trip. It was very awkward after the trip because Oddy acted as if nothing happened but kept hanging around me. A couple weeks rolled by after that, until I finally got annoyed and asked "So what's the deal? Do you like me or not?" I guess there was no pretending after that. Now we are 10 years down the road with our beautiful son, Khameron. The COVID19 pandemic delayed our wedding ceremony, but in a way it’s been a blessing. I can’t wait to celebrate my marriage to the man of my dreams with Khameron by our side :).
