How We Became "Scannie"

Est. October 3, 2014

Annie and I began our journey back in the fall of 2013. Annie was in the ZTA sorority, and I was a Pike. My "big brother" in the fraternity, Phill, was my roommate, and his girlfriend (now wife), McKenzie, was also a ZTA. Late in the fall semester, McKenzie invited Annie to one of our study sessions at the library. It was finals week so the library started serving breakfast after 2 AM. Phill and McKenzie eventually left the library around midnight, leaving Annie and me at a library table alone; I don't think we had talked alone up until this point. 2 AM rolled around and Annie whispers to me, "do you want to go get breakfast?" We got the free breakfast, she went back to studying for her chemistry final, and I went back to looking at golf stuff online (probably). When the spring semester began, I hadn't talked to Annie since our "breakfast date". During that spring, Phill, McKenzie, Annie, and I hung out more often as a group. We accompanied each other at our Greek social events, but I was most definitely "friend-zoned" as we left for summer break. In the fall of 2014, I came to school with a new hair cut. I saw Annie for the first time while walking through campus before classes started and knew immediately she was "vibing" the new haircut. Classes began and we started talking quite a bit. One evening, in particular, Annie ended up at my apartment with a group of friends. My roommate at the time, Zach, "talked me up" to Annie for probably an hour on our porch...that's a good friend! We talked a little more the following days and had our first "official" date the following week. I ordered pizza...she hates pizza! The rest is pretty much history. We became "Facebook official" pretty quickly thereafter and were inseparable from that point on. Since our college days, life has been pretty much perfect. We have adopted two puppies, lived in a couple different apartments, and just recently bought a house. I cannot wait for married life with Annie!
