Our Story

Annie and Dave connected online in January of 2021 over their irrevocable love for fly fishing and the Colorado Avalanche. It wasn’t long after that they went on their first date to sushi, both too nervous to eat very much (that wouldn’t last long). Annie had a feeling after meeting Dave that would be her last first date ever, and she was right. They spent a weekend together in Estes Park in February (ghost hunting at the Stanley Hotel, of course) and Dave asked Annie to be his girlfriend. When Dave moved back to Denver from Wray their relationship developed quickly- all you can eat sushi nights, walking Jax in the park, fishing and Avalanche games. One night, Dave told a half asleep Annie that he was falling in love with her. She replied groggily with “you’re the best”. Although she doesn’t remember this happening, she felt the same and would reciprocate those words soon. In July of 2021, Annie moved into Dave’s house in Aurora. They had their challenges with introducing Ranger, Annie’s cat to Jax, Dave’s dog, but they quickly acclimated to each other and the four of them would happily share a bed every night. Over the next few months, they would purchase a fishing raft, adopt their puppy, Coho, fish across the state of Colorado, and travel to Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico, and Belize. Chasing fish and chasing adventures, a hobby remaining at the center of their relationship. In April of 2022, Dave and Annie packed up their little family of 5 and moved to Pocatello, Idaho, to be closer to the outdoors and pursue more adventures. They spent every weekend on the river. In August they both developed a severe case of covid before their friends from Colorado were to visit, and unbeknownst to Annie, Dave was going to propose. Luckily they recovered and Dave was still able to pop the question next to two of their best friends during a day of fishing on the banks of the South Fork river. Annie was so shocked and elated she actually forgot to give Dave an answer, but it was of course yes. The rest is history. They tied the knot at a private ceremony May 20, 2023 around Fremont Canyon in Alcova, Wyoming- an incredibly special place where they have spent hours fly fishing, talking and laughing. They said their vows on the rock they like to take turns casting from.
