The Story So Far. . .

They met for the first time in 2013, their Freshman year fall-semester at the University of Dallas. They sat next to each other in their Spanish class, and had an introductory project together. The task; to learn three simple facts about the person sitting next to you, and introduce them to the class. "Hola, me llamo Alvaro. Esta es Annie. Ella vive en Keller. etc. etc." And the rest is history! No, not really. The truth is, they did not say a single word to each other for the rest of the year, despite actually being in not one, but two classes together. They were both incredibly awkward and found each other cute, so naturally, they didn't speak to each other or even look at each other. Those words in Spanish class were actually the last words they said to each other for a long, long time, as Annie decided at the end of that year to transfer to UNT to study Art, while Alvaro stayed at UD to learn about Physics, so that he could never use it ever again. Thankfully, that introductory project did allow the two to add each other on Facebook, where they learned that they share the exact same birthday, to the year! Though Alvaro is still a few hours Annie's senior (yes, timezone change included), so don't be getting any ideas. Anyways, because the two were now Facebook friends, the existence of the other remained present in the back of each of their minds until late 2020, when Annie was living in Orange, California doing a year of mission work. A friend of hers told her to start online dating, so she downloaded Catholic Match and, of course, set her distance preferences to "infinite", as the choices on that website aren't always. . . ideal. And lo and behold, who does she see? The dude she sat next to in Spanish class, all those years ago. So she messaged him. And he messaged back. And then they facetimed. And then he drove down from the Bay Area to visit her. Then she visited him and met his family. Then she moved back to Dallas. Then he moved to Dallas. And now they're engaged to be married on September 30, 2023. They often think back to those two 18 year olds in Spanish class, or those two babies, born mere hours apart, and the inifinite possible directions that both of their lives could've taken. And whenever they do, they're happy to be exactly where they are as they forge their future together.
