Our favorite weddings to attend have been the ones where we got to contribute to making the day special. We love when we get to bring a dish, a centerpiece, or a slideshow. To us, weddings are the most personal when they are built with love by the friends and family of the couple. Our way of incorporating that feeling is to skip the cake baked by strangers and instead do a pie potluck for dessert. Pies baked with love by those we love. Interested in participating? Just let us know when you RSVP. You can bring one pie or several. Just bring the pie when you arrive at the wedding, and we'll have a table all set up for them. Don't like baking? Then don't worry about it. We'll have enough dessert no matter what; we promise.
This is just code for, “you don’t have to go full suit, but step it up from jeans.” Other ways to put it: Creative Cocktail, Dressy Casual, or simply "Fun Backyard Wedding" Bright jacket? No jacket? Sport coat? All ok. Bow tie? No tie? You do you. Knee length? Maxi? Jumpsuit? You betcha. Patterns? Colors? Sparkles? Yes please. Get funky with it. We want you to feel like your snazziest, most comfortable self. Wear shoes that won't sink in the dirt and consider bringing a sweater or jacket in case the night gets chilly.
We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! No kids please.
Homewood Suites offers a free shuttle to anywhere within 3 miles of the hotel, so you can take a free shuttle to the wedding if you stay there! Homewood Suites is also walking distance from MetroLink, so you can take public transportation to and from the airport or downtown. For all other accommodation locations, we recommend you order a Lyft or an Uber and put in 9001 Clayton Rd (the address of the Ethical Society). Even if you live in town, we recommend carpooling or using a ride share app so you can truly enjoy the free booze our wedding has to offer.
Get dropped at the Ethical Society (9001 Clayton Rd). Have your driver go all the way to the back of the parking lot and drop you there. There will be signs directing you along a short path to the wedding. Why? Twin Oaks is a narrow street, and Rob and Robbye live at the far end. If everyone gets dropped off at the house, we'll end up with a traffic nightmare as everyone tries to turn around and get back out. Also, the wedding is in the backyard, so the Ethical Society parking lot is actually closer to the ceremony than the front driveway is.
If your invitation includes your partner's name or says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you. If you have a long-term significant other that we didn't know about, we're so sorry! Shoot Anneliese an email at anneliesetoft@gmail.com so we can make room on the guest list.
We have tents just in case, but we recommend bringing an umbrella if it looks like rain. The walk from the car to the tent is just far enough to leave you unpleasantly damp for the night.
Just RSVP to let us know you can't make it to St. Louis and are planning to come to the Chicago Celebration instead. We know the trip St. Louis is a big ask that may not work with everyone's finances or schedules, and THAT'S OK! Know that we will absolutely feel that we were able to celebrate our marriage with you if you join us for our Chicago Wedding Party on November 14th, 2018 at the Lincoln Loft. We are excited for the opportunity to spend an evening with our Chicago Comedy Family, so we scheduled this party for a Wednesday night to make it easier for our performing and touring friends to attend.
We will have vegetarian options for sure, and those with gluten intolerance should be able to find things they can eat. If you have a more specific dietary need, email Sam at Sammo354@yahoo.com to let us know. We'll see what we can do. Dinner is a buffet, so we don't have personal meal options, but we can easily set aside a few portions of one of the dishes without dairy, nuts, or whatnot to make sure a friend has something to eat.
