On her way to watch a Davidson College basketball game in March of 2018, Anne Elizabeth spotted a tall, handsome man (Ethan) standing by the coffee machine in the lobby of her apartment building. He was carrying a puppy and wearing a Davidson t-shirt. Intrigued, Anne Elizabeth struck up a conversation with him about their shared love of Davidson and the cuteness of his puppy, Truman. A few months later, Anne Elizabeth had set up a study space in the apartment's lounge where she was studying for the MCAT. Ethan spotted her, and thought to himself that the table in the lounge (right next to her) would be an excellent spot for him to study for the NC Bar exam. Over the next few weeks, right there in the study lounge, the two would spend 14-hour days bonding over coffee runs, Trader Joe's dark chocolate peanut butter cups, Indian take-out, peaches, and Ethan's cooking. After Anne Elizabeth took the MCAT, she came home to a bottle of Eagle Rare (her favorite bourbon) in front of her door with a note to join Ethan for some celebratory ice-cream. They've been at each other's side ever since.
