Charleston International Airport (CHS) is the closest airport to Kiawah Island. It is about one hour driving from the airport to the island.
You can likely get an Uber/Lyft from the airport, but we would recommend a car rental for your stay, as there are not ride-share options available once on the island. There will be some shuttle service available for those renting through Kiawah Island Resort, and bike rentals to get around the island. However, grocery stores and shopping are located off the island.
