Charleston International Airport (CHS) is the closest airport to the island, about an hour driving. You may get an Uber/Lyft or car service to take you to the island, but transportation options once on the island are limited to bike rentals if you do not have a car.
You should make a reservation as soon as possible!! Kiawah Island decided to book a USGA golf tournament the same weekend as our wedding, because they wanted to make the weekend extra special. As such, condos and houses have already begun booking up.
Refer to the Travel Page for Accommodations -- contact the bride or groom for a discount at Aikers & Ellis. We also have room block options at the Sanctuary, Andell Inn, and at villas through Kiawah Island Resort. For wedding block information, please contact Britney Gallagher at Britney@BlockBirdie.com We did not link AirBnB and VRBO on the Travel page, but you can also book through those if desired.
We recommend a rental car to get around the island, primarily because the grocery store and shops are located off the island. There are no ride-share services available; however, shuttle service (around the island only) will be available to those renting through Kiawah Island Resort.
We will provide transportation for guests to and from the reception, but not the wedding mass. Please note while booking accommodations that the transportation will utilize 2 or 3 pick-up and drop-off locations on the island: 1) Night Heron Park (East Beach Area) 2) The Sanctuary 3) Location TBD (Vanderhorst Area)
The attire for the wedding + reception is black tie optional.
We love your children, but we kindly ask that you completely ditch them for the wedding :)
Please contact the Chairman of the Kiawah Island Board of Tourism, DJ Crowley.
Kiawah in May is essentially the summer -- think 70's to low 80's and sunny (we hope). And don't forget about that Southern humidity.
