Cocktail Attire/Semi-Formal But we trust you to dress yourself elegantly AND comfortably! We'll be indoors for the entire event, although there's plenty of opportunity to step outside and enjoy the lake. Late October in Chicago is a gamble, but if we're lucky it'll be low-60s and brisk with temperatures dropping in the evening.
We love your kids (with one very obvious exception that we refuse to discuss). But given that it's a long night and a creeky old house, outside of immediate family, we're prioritizing Adults Only. That said, please reach out with any concerns or questions!
There will be an open bar. Expect white wine, gin, whiskey, local beer, basic domestic beer, non-alcoholic beer, and one six-pack of Stella in case Matt's dad gets tired of scotch. We'll have plenty of soft drinks, LaCroix and mixers, too. We obviously ask you to drink fairly responsibly.
Expect hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, followed by various food stations at dinner. We'll have vegetarian, pescatarian and meat options. And dessert! Please DO let us know if you have any dietary requests!
Unfortunately, the second floor of Dawes House is not wheelchair accessible. We'll primarily be on the first floor where there's the larger bathroom. That said, if you have any concerns, please reach out. Additionally, October is cold, flu and (of course) Covid season. Please practice discretion. Barring the surge of another variant, we probably won't be wearing masks. But we encourage you to do what makes you feel most secure.
Thank you for asking. Since the Dawes House is both a museum and 19th-century home, there are a few rules we'll be abiding by: - No candles or open flames - No flower arrangements (moths!) - No red wine (stains!) - No ouija boards
Yup! Just an 8-minute walk away at the Ridgeville Tavern! Starts approx 10:15 PM.
Just reach out to either Anne or Matt.
