OPEN 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Village cheese & sandwich shop located in the heart of Fishtown. Better-than-ever fresh, made to order sandwiches, local cherry and related products, and 60+ imported cheeses. Suggest calling ahead with sandwich orders as they get very busy. Cash only.
lunch, dinner: The Cove
OPEN 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Located above and below the Leland Dam at the head of Leland's Historic Fishtown overlooking beautiful Lake Michigan and the Manitou Islands. Enjoy a menu of Up North favorites and signature dishes with a focus on local ingredients and from scratch recipes. The Cove specializes in serving fresh Lake Michigan whitefish, hand cut prime steaks, and famous seafood chowder. In house made desserts include award winning cherry pie, chocolate cherry cheesecake, and key lime pie. Also known for their unique version of a Bloody Mary ... the Chubby Mary (pictured above) - complete with a smoked Chub Fish!

OPEN WEDS - MON 4:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Reservations Required. White tablecloth dining on the river in Leland. One of the best restaurants in the county. Dress up and bring your wallet $$$$. Note: Covid strict on social distancing. No standing or hanging around at the bar.

OPEN FRI & SAT 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., SUN - THURS 11:00 a.m - 9:00 p.m. Reservations required / or To-Go Pizza. Located in Lake Leelanau (5 miles east), Nittolo's is celebrating their first season and is getting great reviews. Wood fired pizza and a killer caesar salad. Lots of other delicious menu items.

9 miles east of Leland is the quaint, coastal village of Sutton's Bay. Spend a morning or afternoon shopping, eating, drinking, walking the harbor docks. Favorite restaurants: VI Grill (lunch and dinner), Streetside (lunch and dinner), North Country (dinner), 45th Parallel Cafe for breakfast (very popular)

shop, sunset: Historic Fishtown & Main Street
Northern Michigan's commercial fishing heritage remains alive today in Leland's Fishtown! Walk along the docks, amongst the weathered fishing shanties, smokehouses, racks of drying fishing nets, and fish tugs on the Leland River. Many of the shanties now house delightful gift and clothing boutiques, art galleries and specialty food shops. Fishtown is a popular gathering spot for nightly sunset viewing. Main Street and surrounding streets offer many clothing and gift shops to peruse. Do Not Miss Fishtown!
walk, sunset: Van's Beach
Take a daytime or sunset walk on Van's Beach.
hike: Clay Cliffs Natural Area
1.5 mile trail system on flat and hilly terrain. There is a viewing platform above the bluffs, with breathtaking views from 200 feet above Lake Michigan. On the trail to the bluff there are views of Lake Leelanau to the East.
hike: Pyramid Point
This is our favorite hike! The lookout point is high over Lake Michigan about 0.6 miles from the trailhead. Steep, but short hike. View is worth it! We love going to Art's Tavern for lunch in Glen Arbor (about 6 miles further south) following a hike. Art's is a casual tavern with a great menu, Bloody Marys and plenty of beer. Walls and ceiling are completely covered in college pennants.
wine: 45 North Vineyard & Winery
OPEN EVERY DAY 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Located directly on the 45th parallel, this distinct location is the driving force behind their approach to crafting world class wines that represent the region. Using grapes from estate and regional vineyards, everything is handcrafted on-site with the goal of producing the most approachable, elegant wines possible. We love 45 North!

wine: Verterra Winery
LELAND TASTING ROOM OPEN NOON - 6:00 p.m. EVERYDAY except SUNDAY NOON - 5:00 p.m. Visit the tasting room right in town (across from the Bluebird) and/or visit their tasting/event location 9 miles north of town: Verterra at The Ridge for amazing wine and views! It's worth the drive. The RIDGE open Thursday and Friday this weekend from NOON - 6:00 p.m. (may want to verify on website).

OPEN WEDS - SAT NOON - 6:00 p.m., SUN NOON - 5:00 p.m. Blustone’s tasting room is located at their estate vineyard with panoramic views, floor to ceiling windows, and a modern, clean vibe that creates an experience of Leelanau that is unforgettable. A huge glass door opens up when its warmer outside and glasses of wine will be available to purchase and enjoy on the patio. One of our favorites! Note: Blustone encourages reservations and is not very accommodating to large groups.
