We're Getting Married!

Though we've decided to keep our marriage ceremony intimate (just the two of us on a beach somewhere), we can't wait to celebrate our union with our closest friends and family in our home of Oostduinkerke, Belgium. We will be hosting a party on Saturday, September 20th at our local sail club and beach bar, Sycod. There will be music, drinks, a food truck, sweet treats and of course Belgian beer!

As fate would have it, Anna and Stan both found themselves in Portugal during the summer of 2021. After finishing up a school year teaching in the Canary Islands, Anna decided to make a stop in Portugal on her way home. Meanwhile, after leaving his corporate job in Ghent, Stan took advantage of a break before joining the family bike shop and set off on a spontaneous trip to Portugal. It was the height of COVID-19—lockdowns, curfews, and mask mandates in full effect—and all the bars in Lisbon were shut. Instead, all the 20-somethings in the city gathered along the waterfront promenade, buying smuggled beers from enterprising backpack vendors. It was here that Anna and Stan’s paths crossed. A series of unlikely coincidences led to their meeting, but to keep this as a 2 minute read, let’s just call it fate. By the time they said their goodbyes that night, it was clear this was no ordinary meeting—and the rest, as they say, is history.
