We met on a dating app called Hinge. Sango was impressed by how Anna never got detention. Anna was impressed by how happy Sango looked in his pictures. Soon we were chatting through the app. Finally Sango smoothly asked Anna out for drinks but she declined because she was about to head out to Washington for her cousin’s wedding. Sango thought she was trying to ghost him. Anna was not ghosting Sango and when she got back they kept talking and finally set up a date. She almost cancelled on Sango but he was patient and they ended up going out later than their scheduled date. We met up for ramen at Tiger Den in Houston. Sango was sweating profusely and doing his best to impress Anna. Anna was trying to keep up with the references to all of the rappers he knew. They didn’t want the date to end so they got ice cream afterwards. Sango noticed Anna’s quirks, Anna was tired. It was time for the date to end. All of the stores were closed and there was nothing else they could reasonably go out for on a Sunday night. Rain was pouring down as we ran across the parking lot. Sango walked Anna back to her car and said goodbye kissing her on the forehead. Anna was confused but thought “Hey, I’ll give him a chance.” So she set up the next date to play board games at a local brewery.
Anna knew that she could marry Sango after 6 months of dating, which shocked her. At the time Sango couldn’t imagine getting married. 6 months later he changed his mind and decided to start working on the PERFECT proposal. Sango asked Anna’s parents for their blessing. He ended up designing the PERFECT ring which he hid in his glovebox for months. Sango just wanted everything to be PERFECT. He tried to setup a PERFECT proposals like the ones you see on those TV sitcoms. Candles and roses at her family’s lake house surrounded by family and friends. A grand moment to be remembered forever. For months, Sango waited for this PERFECT moment to occur. But the plan wasn’t working out. Sango couldn’t find a weekend that worked with everyone’s schedule. One day, his friend Rob joked “why don’t you just show up at her doorstep and propose?!” And after some thinking, Sango realized this was in fact the perfect plan. He couldn’t wait any longer and wanted to be engaged right then. That night he pretended he was going to his friend’s comedy performance. Anna planned on celebrating her mom’s birthday. While playing rummikub with her aunt and cousins the doorbell rang. Anna’s mom was making pizza and asked for Anna to get the door. As Anna walked up to the door she saw a handsome man in a blazer, Sango. She immediately knew what was about to happen. The Oscars were playing on the TV in the background when Sango stepped in, it was just the 2 of them. Neither of them remembers what was said. Both agree that he got on his knee and that she said thank you, a lot. It was PERFECT it was simple, it was them, it was private but family was close. It was both spontaneous and overly planned. It was with the help of family and friends. It was the PERFECT ring. It was the PERFECT proposal because it’s the proposal that started the next stage of their life together.
