Izzy

Anna and Izzy became fast friends in summer 2019 on a journalism trip to Alaska, where Izzy was a local radio reporter. Izzy was, in fact, the first person Anna told about her crush on Peter. Despite not seeing each other for five years, the two stayed close via FaceTime to talk about life but most of all: feelings and the Great British Bake Off. Now that Izzy lives in Seattle they’ve been able to visit each other and laugh in person together instead of just over the phone.
Shelby
Bridesmaid
Shelby met Anna in their early Eugene college days circa 2010, and has since been a confidante, roommate, and general golden-haired beam of light in Anna’s life. For Anna’s 21st birthday Shelby gifted her a compass with a note that read “to the paths we’ve found together and to the paths you soon will find.” It’s a real blessing that they are still finding their paths together after all these years and all these places. Shelby will be the guest coming the furthest, as she's currently living in Spain getting her masters degree in urban planning!
Lyndsey

Lyndsey came into Anna's life in 2016 when they were both working at High Country News, living together as interns and fellows in Paonia, Colorado. As two extremely place-based people, Anna and Lyndsey have both re-rooted themselves in the states where they're from. A decade and many life events later, they're both still in the journalism world (somehow!) where Lyndsey is thriving as a Senior Manager of Community Engagement for Grist and raising two beautiful kids with her husband Eric in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mollie

Anna and Mollie met during a snowy cabin trip in the Rocky Mountains in January 2022, not long after Anna moved to Boulder, Colorado. Mollie was a "keystone" friend for Anna, introducing her to a larger community that led to more cabin trips, game nights, picnics in the park, a "Tour de Franzia", etc. Some things things that Mollie takes seriously: committing to the bit, holding down the dance floor, and showing up for her friends. She now lives in D.C. with her husband and sweet new baby, working in animal welfare and generally making the world a better place.
Gray
Groomsman
Gray is Peter’s first friend. They met at the age of 2 and grew up together in the same neighborhood in Bloomington, Indiana. They shared a boyhood full of Saturday morning cartoons, Go-GURT, GameCube, and exploring the creek that ran behind their houses. Despite living across the country from each other for the last 15 years, Gray will always be the day-one homie. Brotherhood knows no bounds of time or space. Gray lives in Richmond, Virginia, where he recently completed a Master’s degree in natural resources and applies his numerous musical talents in the rock ’n roll band Strawberry Moon.
Alexander
Groomsman
Peter and Alexander met at Lewis & Clark College. They became fast friends (maybe not as fast and Anna and Izzy) due to shared interests in outdoor adventure, rock climbing, science, music, and World of Warcraft. Plus, they just operate on a similar wavelength. The summer after their first year at L&C, Alexander invited Peter to stay and work at his parents’ farm outside of Boulder, Colorado. They spent a dreamy few weeks working hard and climbing harder, inspiring Peter’s decision to move to Boulder for graduate school years later. Alexander is a brilliant geospatial software engineer and all-around 100% kind human.
Ethan
Groomsman
Peter and Ethan met in Boulder, Colorado in summer 2014 after being connected by their mutual friend Patrick. Their first “hang” was a run to the summit of Green Mountain. Thus began a decade of adventures including skiing 40 miles from Crested Butte to Aspen in one night. Ethan also inspired Peter to study population genetics. He now leads a research lab at Montana State University in Bozeman, where he lives with his wife, Kate, and daughter, Eva. Recently, Ethan and Peter co-authored the first complete genome assembly for Clark’s Nutcracker. Most importantly for our purposes here, Ethan was an integral wingman and witness to Peter’s courtship of Anna.
