We met through Kyle's cousin, Gifford, who responded to an open Craiglist ad to rent the last room in Mia's house with some of her friends. Our first date was spent canoeing on Bayou St. John after work. Kyle arranged to borrow Matt and Paddy's canoe that was docked on the Cabrini Bridge, put together a picnic lunch from Whole Foods, and set to meet Mia at the Bayou. We paddled pretty far up the Bayou, ate, talked, and enjoyed each other's company. When we got back to tie the boat up, Mia had to run to find a bathroom. On the way back, she was in a rush, and even for a college cross country runner, the streets of New Orleans tripped her up. She skinned her knee and when she got back to the cars she was bleeding. Good thing she was prepared (because Kyle definitely wasn't), and she had a first aid kit handy! Kyle helped clean up her leg, put a bandage on and the two headed to Pal's Lounge. It was at that point the two realized this was their first adventure, but definitely wouldn't be their last.
